Blacklane and Geneva: what we found, and what it means for your ski trip

On 6 November 2026 we checked Blacklane's own website, because customers were asking us. Geneva is no longer listed among their Swiss cities, which now show Basel and Zurich only. Every Geneva page they had redirects to a generic Switzerland page. Their English sitemap holds 1,775 addresses and Geneva appears in none of them. Most telling of all, their booking form returns no available date whatsoever for a pickup at Geneva Airport across November and December, while an identical request from Zurich Airport produces a normal calendar.

We have no inside knowledge of why, no statement has been published, and we are not going to make one up about another company. The practical point is simple and it is seasonal: Geneva Airport is the gateway to more ski resorts than any other airport in Europe, the season starts in weeks, and a lot of people who had a transfer arranged now need another one.

Prestige Limousine Sarl has been driving that road for years. We are based at Rue de Geneve 107 in Thonex, fifteen minutes from the terminal. We are the operator, not a booking platform: our cars, our chauffeurs, our winter tyres.

A ski transfer is not an ordinary transfer

This is the part that separates companies, and it is worth being specific rather than making claims. A January run from Geneva to Val Thorens climbs from 430 metres to 2,300 in a little under three hours. The last forty minutes are hairpins, often in falling snow, frequently behind a gritter. Here is what that actually demands.

Winter tyres, and the right ones

Our whole fleet runs on winter tyres from November to April, not all-seasons. In Switzerland there is no blanket legal requirement for winter tyres, which surprises people, but a driver whose unsuitable tyres cause an obstruction is liable, and insurers take the same view. In France the Loi Montagne requires winter equipment in designated mountain communes from 1 November to 31 March, and most of the resorts on this page sit inside that zone. We comply because it is the law there and because it is the only sane way to drive those roads.

Chains in every car, and a chauffeur who has fitted them before

Snow chains live in the boot of every vehicle all winter. More important, the chauffeur knows how to fit them in the dark, in the cold, on a verge, in under five minutes. This sounds trivial until you are the passenger watching someone read the instructions by phone light at 2,000 metres.

Knowing which resorts have a road problem, and when

Some of these destinations have quirks that no route planner tells you. Zermatt is car-free: everybody stops at Tasch and takes the shuttle train, and we will drop you at the Tasch terminal with your luggage at the platform. Wengen and Murren are also car-free, reached by train from Lauterbrunnen and by cable car from Stechelberg respectively. Avoriaz closes to cars in the resort centre, so the drop is at the car parks below. Val Thorens occasionally closes the last section in heavy snow and we will know before you do. Saturdays between late December and early March are transfer day for the entire Alps, and the Tarentaise valley road to Courchevel, Meribel, Val d'Isere and Tignes can add ninety minutes to a journey. We build that into the plan rather than discovering it with you in the car.

Starting early, and meaning it

If you land at six in the morning on a Saturday in February, leaving at six thirty rather than seven thirty is worth an hour at the other end. We will tell you that at booking.

Ski transfer prices from Geneva Airport

These are fixed prices per vehicle, not per person. They include the chauffeur, fuel, all motorway and tunnel tolls, the Swiss and French vignettes, the airport access charge, winter equipment, ski carriage, child seats, and sixty minutes of free waiting from the moment your aircraft lands. 132 resorts are priced below. A return booked at the same time takes ten per cent off the return leg.

Choosing the vehicle for a ski trip is mostly a luggage question. Two people with two ski bags and two suitcases fit in the E-Class. Three or more sets of equipment, or a family with boot bags, need the V-Class, and it is the vehicle we send for most resort bookings. The S-Class is for long runs where comfort over three hours matters more than boot space. The Sprinter handles chalet parties and is quoted on request.

The Swiss side has the shortest transfers and the most reliable roads. Verbier in two hours, Crans-Montana in two and a quarter, the Portes du Soleil resorts in well under two. Zermatt and Saas-Fee are the long ones at three hours, and Graubunden, Davos, Klosters, St. Moritz and Arosa, is a genuine cross-country drive of four and a half to five hours, which is worth weighing against the train from Zurich if your flight allows it. We will give you an honest comparison if you ask.

The French resorts are where Geneva Airport earns its reputation. Chamonix is seventy-five minutes. The Portes du Soleil, Morzine, Avoriaz, Les Gets and Chatel, sit between seventy and ninety minutes. The Grand Massif, Flaine, Les Carroz, Samoens and Morillon, is similar. Then comes the Tarentaise, where the great names are, Courchevel, Meribel, Val Thorens, Val d'Isere, Tignes, Les Arcs and La Plagne, between two and a half and three hours in good conditions, and considerably more on a peak Saturday. The Maurienne and the Oisans, Valloire, Val Cenis, Alpe d'Huez and Les Deux Alpes, are three to three and a half hours.

One practical note on the Tarentaise. The valley road from Albertville to Bourg-Saint-Maurice is a single artery serving dozens of resorts, and on the busiest Saturdays it is the reason for every horror story about Alpine transfers. Arriving on a Friday, a Sunday or midweek can cut an hour from the same journey, and if your flight is flexible we will say so.

Italy is underrated from Geneva. Courmayeur is an hour and three quarters through the Mont Blanc tunnel, which makes it closer than Val Thorens. Cervinia and Champoluc are around two and three quarter hours. The Aosta Valley resorts are easy winter runs because the motorway goes almost to the lift. Further east, Livigno, Bormio and Madonna di Campiglio are long days, and the Dolomites longer still, but they are door to door and for a family that beats two flights and a connection.

The Mont Blanc tunnel deserves a word. It is the fast route to Courmayeur and the Aosta Valley, it is tolled, and on peak winter Saturdays the queue at the Chamonix portal is real. The Grand Saint Bernard tunnel is the Swiss alternative and sometimes the faster one. We choose on the day based on the actual situation, not on the map.

Skis, boards and luggage: what fits where

Nothing irritates a ski party more than arriving to a car that cannot take the gear. So, plainly.

Mercedes E-Class

Three passengers. Two ski bags plus two medium suitcases, or three suitcases with no skis. If you are three adults with three sets of equipment, this is not your car and we will tell you at booking rather than at the kerb.

Mercedes V-Class

Up to seven passengers with a genuine luggage area behind the last row. Six people with six sets of skis and six bags fit without stacking anything on laps. This is the standard ski vehicle and the one we recommend for any family booking.

Mercedes S-Class

Three passengers in considerably more comfort, with boot space similar to the E-Class. The right choice for a long transfer, Zermatt, St. Moritz, the Dolomites, where three hours in the back is the real consideration, with equipment travelling light or following separately.

Mercedes Sprinter

Up to nineteen passengers with a dedicated luggage compartment that swallows a whole chalet party's bags and skis. Quoted on request. For large groups we often run a Sprinter plus a V-Class rather than two minibuses, which is cheaper and faster through the villages.

Boot bags, boards and a pushchair are no problem, just tell us. Equipment is never charged as an extra.

Arriving at Geneva Airport in winter

Geneva has one terminal with a Swiss and a French sector. Unless you say otherwise we meet you on the Swiss side, inside the arrivals hall, with a board bearing your name.

Give us your flight number and we track it. On a winter Saturday the airport handles a volume of ski passengers that produces long baggage waits, especially for oversized items. Your sixty free minutes start at touchdown, and in a genuine snow disruption we extend that rather than charge you. If your bags do not arrive, which happens more often in ski season than anyone admits, call the chauffeur and we will wait or arrange a later departure.

From the hall it is two minutes to the covered car park and about five minutes from there to the motorway. If you are arriving by private jet, tell us the FBO at booking and we will meet you airside-adjacent rather than at the main terminal.

Chalet drops, resort logistics and the return

Most resorts have a street that a sedan simply cannot climb in snow, and most chalets are on it. Give us the chalet name and address when you book and we will work out the drop point in advance, including where the keys are collected if that is relevant. For resorts with car-free centres we deliver to the official transfer point and help you to the sledge or the electric taxi.

For the return, book it with the outbound. It saves ten per cent on the return leg and, more importantly, it guarantees you a car on a Saturday morning when every vehicle in the valley is already committed. We recommend leaving the resort three and a half hours before a flight in high season, four if you are coming from the Tarentaise.

Booking and paying

Enter the resort and the date, pick the vehicle, and the price appears, fixed, in Swiss francs. Add the flight number, the passenger name and the number of ski pairs, and pay by card through Stripe with 3-D Secure. Confirmation is immediate and the chauffeur's details arrive the day before. You can also be invoiced, or pay the chauffeur on the day, if you prefer.

Free cancellation up to twenty four hours before pickup. Child seats free. Ten per cent off the return leg when both legs are booked together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Helpful answers about our company, our airport transfer service and your booking experience.

Has Blacklane really stopped serving Geneva?

Their site no longer lists Geneva among their Swiss cities, their Geneva pages redirect away, Geneva appears nowhere in their English sitemap, and their booking engine offers no date at all for a Geneva Airport pickup while Zurich works normally. That is what we observed on 6 November 2026. We have no statement from them and do not know the reason. Check any existing booking with them directly.

Do you carry skis and snowboards at no extra charge?

Yes. Equipment is never charged. Tell us how many pairs of skis or boards when you book so we send a vehicle with the space. Up to two bags fit in the E-Class alongside modest luggage; three or more need the V-Class.

Do your cars have winter tyres and snow chains?

Winter tyres on the whole fleet from November through April, and chains in the boot of every vehicle all season. The chauffeurs fit them regularly and do not need to read the instructions.

How long does the transfer to Verbier, Courchevel or Val Thorens take?

Verbier about two hours, Courchevel about two and a half, Val Thorens about two and three quarters, in good conditions. On a peak Saturday in the Tarentaise add an hour or more. We plan for the real conditions on your date, not the optimistic figure.

What happens if my flight is delayed by snow?

We track the flight, so the pickup simply moves. There is no extra charge for a delay, your sixty free minutes start at the actual landing, and in a major disruption we extend rather than bill you.

Can you drop us directly at our chalet?

In most resorts, yes. Send the chalet name and address at booking and we will check the access in advance. Where a road is genuinely impassable for a saloon we agree the nearest safe drop with you beforehand rather than improvising.

How does Zermatt work, since it is car-free?

We drive you to the terminal at Tasch, five kilometres below the resort, and leave you at the shuttle train platform with your luggage. The train runs every twenty minutes and takes twelve minutes. The same logic applies at Wengen, Murren and the upper part of Avoriaz.

Is the price per person or per vehicle?

Per vehicle. Six people in a V-Class pay the V-Class price once. This is the biggest difference between a private transfer and a shared shuttle, and it is why a group is often cheaper with us.

Do you provide child seats and boosters?

Yes, free, in every size. Swiss and French law both require a suitable restraint for children under twelve or under 150 centimetres. Give us ages and heights and the seats are fitted before we leave the depot.

How far in advance should I book a ski transfer?

For Christmas, New Year, February half term and the French school holidays, as early as you can. Those Saturdays sell out across the whole Geneva fleet, not just ours. Outside peak weeks, twenty four to forty eight hours is usually fine.

Can you take a group of twelve or more?

Yes. A Sprinter takes up to nineteen with a luggage compartment, and for larger parties we run several vehicles under one coordinator so everyone arrives together.

What is included in the fare?

Vehicle, chauffeur, fuel, all tolls and tunnel charges, Swiss and French motorway vignettes, the airport access fee, winter equipment, ski carriage, child seats, meet and greet with a name board, flight tracking, sixty minutes of free waiting, and bottled water.

Do you charge extra at night or at the weekend?

No night surcharge and no surge pricing. A weekend supplement applies on some long-distance routes and it is always shown in the quote before you pay, never added afterwards.

Can we stop for supermarket shopping on the way?

Yes, and most chalet guests do. A supermarket stop in the valley, usually at Sallanches, Moutiers, Bourg-Saint-Maurice or Martigny depending on the route, costs nothing extra if it is reasonable. Tell us at booking so the chauffeur allows the time.

What is your cancellation policy?

Free cancellation and full refund up to twenty four hours before the pickup. Within twenty four hours we look at the situation, and if the chauffeur has not been dispatched we normally refund. Weather cancellations are always handled fairly.

Do you also do resort-to-resort transfers?

Yes. Verbier to Chamonix, Courchevel to Val d'Isere, Zermatt to Saas-Fee, and any other combination. Ask for a quote with the two resorts and the date.

Which tunnel do you use for Courmayeur and the Aosta Valley?

Usually the Mont Blanc tunnel, which is the fast route. On peak Saturdays the queue at Chamonix can be long and the Grand Saint Bernard becomes quicker. The chauffeur decides on the day with live information, and the choice never changes your price.

Can we pay in euros?

Yes, euros and Swiss francs are both accepted on board, and cards online. Prices are quoted in Swiss francs because that is the currency we operate in.

Are you licensed to operate in Geneva?

Yes. The company and each chauffeur hold the cantonal authorisation required by the Geneva LTVTC, and the vehicles carry professional insurance for paying passengers. Our chauffeurs are also authorised for cross-border work into France and Italy.

What if the resort road is closed when we arrive?

It happens a few times each winter. The chauffeur will know before you reach the valley, we will tell you the options, and we wait with you or take you to the nearest open point. You are never left at a barrier to sort it out alone.

Do you offer a discount for the return journey?

Yes, ten per cent off the return leg when the outbound and return are booked together. Booking both also secures your Saturday morning slot, which in February matters more than the discount.

How many resorts do you actually serve?

132 are priced on this page across Switzerland, France and Italy, and we cover others on request. If your resort is not listed, send it to us and we will quote it.
